I woke up this morning, got out of bed, and started the day with a cup of coffee, my regular routine. My life begs the question, why do I do what I do? Do I get up and get a vision from the Lord or am I stuck in my own agenda?
A vision from the Lord gives revelation and direction. With anticipation I am motivated to hear His voice throughout the day.
Isa. 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
A vision is waiting upon the Lord with expectation, knowing He will show us what to do and how to do it. A vision can be for the moment or it can be a long term vision for your life, vocation, business, etc. When we hear from the Lord on what to do and obey, serving the Lord becomes exciting, and meaningful.
An agenda tends to be preplanned, stale and old and stops the spontaneous work of the Holy Spirit. When I get locked into my own agenda I really miss out on God’s blessings… There is no joy in that! It’s our choice from the time we wake up till it’s time to go to bed to walk in the spirit (a vision) or walk in the flesh (an agenda). When we walk in the spirit, with a vision the most mundane things in life become enjoyable.
I went up town like I do most every day, needed some groceries, mail, gas etc. Kelly, one of the people behind the counter looked in need of some cheering up. I had seen Kelly many times before and to my knowledge Kelly was not a happy person. I went as far as assuming that Kelly had something against me personally. But one day I went in with a vision from the Lord to show myself friendly and portrait the love of God to Kelly.
Today I consider Kelly a friend and take every opportunity to show that I care and take time to listen to Kelly’s heart. Since reaching out I have learned about the personal struggles that have affected Kelly’s everyday life, and now I can empathize with Kelly because I understand why Kelly didn’t seem happy.
The Bible does not say to do unto others as they do unto you but it does say in Luke 6:31: And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
